Saraab – we Are Stories

Every Second Friday @ Kulttuuritila Merirasti

East Helsinki should be an independent country. Where people stand for things. Empathy, compassion, gratitude and everything good and left. Where everyone would make a lot of sense, love and tell so many stories. This evening is about the story part. The stories of sandwiches, liberty, chai, fishing, relocation, resistance, and whatever. Come and listen to some of them with us, have a cup of tea or soup of the day.

We stand on the shoulders of giants. Each and every one of our ancestors has left a trace in us. To understand who we are and where we are going, we need to understand where we’ve come from. To dive into the lake, to climb the tree, to enter the cave. To look for the ROOTS of it all.
3Troubadours have dug far back into their individual family histories, the legends of their cultures and even their own DNA to find tales and memories of who we are and what we carry. With their signature humour, energetic performance and deep sense of wonder, the three performers will take you to places and times you’ve never been before.

ROOTS was developed throughout 2018 in a string of European residencies supported by Federation for European Storytelling / The Creative Europe Programme of the EU and The Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme. The performance premiered the 24th of October that year at the Warsaw International Storytelling Festival. ROOTS lasts for 75 minutes without break.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
3Troubadours is a trilateral trio of performance storytellers consisting of Markus Luukkonen (FI), Tom van Outryve (BE) and Torgrim Mellum Stene (NO). The group was officially formed in Ghent in Belgium in May 2015.

They toured Europe and the UK with their first show, Mobile Dreams, performing it at almost 40 venues from 2015 – 2018. ROOTS is their second show. ROOTS has been performed at storytelling festivals in Warsaw (PL), Zwolle (NL), Skelleftea and Ljungby (SE) and as stand alone shows in Oslo (NO) and Helsinki (FI).

Kohtasitko Romanian romanin kadulla, ja mietit, mikä mahtaa olla hänen tarinansa? Vihdoinkin nämä keskuudessamme asuvat, mutta usein etäisiksi jäävät ihmiset saavat puheenvuoron ja kertovat tarinoita elämästään täällä ja muualla.

Povestea Romani on Diakonissalaitoksen liikkuvan väestön päiväkeskus Hirundon ja Teatteritalo Universumin Story Sharing Universum -projektin toteuttama esitys, jossa viisi Romanian romania kertoo omasta elämästään. Tarinat kerrotaan romaniaksi ja suomeksi.

Diakonissalaitos on työskennellyt syrjityn Itä-Euroopan liikkuvan väestön parissa Suomessa ja lähtömaissa vuodesta 2008 Hirundo.  on liikkuvan väestön päiväkeskus ja hätämajoitus Helsingin Vallilassa. Story Sharing Universum on monitaideprojekti, joka toteuttaa mm. Story Sharing Café -tapahtumia, tarinaesityksiä ja työpajoja eri puolella Suomea. UNIVERSUM on neljän helsinkiläisen ammattiteatterin muodostama tuotantotalo joka on toiminut Helsingin Punavuoressa vuodesta 1998.

Teatteri Venuksen Maskworks – ensemble sukeltaa “The Re-Invention of Self” esityksen myötä ruumiin viisauteen. Teos on saanut inspiraationsa psykiatri ja sosiologi Wilheim Reichin kehon- ja mielen teorioista.

I’m So Here on esityskokonaisuus jonka keskeisiä teemoja ovat identiteetti tulokkaan näkökulmasta. Kuinka minut on otettu vastaan siinä yhteiskunnassa jonne muutin tai pakenin, ja  miten se on vaikuttanut minuun? Mitä kannan mukanani taustastani ja miten olen muuttunut  uudessa kulttuurissa ja kuka minusta sitten on tullut?  Esitetyt tekstit perustuvat työryhmän elämäntarinoihin.

Tässä kolmannessa ja viimeisessä I’m So Here trilogian osassa kutsumme sinut Teatteritalo Universumiin kokemaan erilaisia ​​tarinoita ja kohtauksia kuten: Irakilainen pantterin metsästäjä kohtaa suomalais-bolivialaisen gringon… Parasta kotitekoista Jugoslavialaista popmusiikkia… Bollywood-päiväkirja… Pakistanilaistyylinen agitointi sekä monia muita inspiroivia, epätodennäköisiä ja yllättäviä numeroita tässä sydäntä lämmittävässä tapahtumassa.

I’m So Here on esityskokonaisuus jonka keskeisiä teemoja ovat identiteetti tulokkaan näkökulmasta. Kuinka minut on otettu vastaan siinä yhteiskunnassa jonne muutin tai pakenin, ja miten se on vaikuttanut minuun? Mitä kannan mukanani taustastani ja miten olen muuttunut uudessa kulttuurissa ja kuka minusta sitten on tullut?

I’m So Here kutsuu kokonaisvaltaiseen kokemukseen perinteisen teatterin seinien ulkopuolella. Esitykset koostuvat paikkakohtaisista tarinakävelyistä eri ympäristöissä Helsingissä. Nämä ympäristöt vaikuttavat esitysten tunnelmiin ja vievät katsojan löytöretkelle ajassa ja paikassa. Esitetyt tekstit perustuvat työryhmän elämäntarinoihin. Kuten kaikissa Story Sharing Universum-ryhmä esityksissä myös tässä katsojalla on mahdollisuus osallistua.

Timezone Story Sharing Café

Welcome to the Global Timezone Story Sharing Café!

In these times of isolation we want to reach out to the world and meet people living in different timezones to share stories together and get connected.

Story Sharing Café is an easy and fun event where people from all over the world, with diverse backgrounds and realities can meet and share everyday stories. So grab your coffee or tea and come and share stories and memories in small groups at our virtual coffee tables hosted by members of our Story Sharing group. We also have live music and an open storysharing mic!

Event’s language is English.
